The Tweed Dolphins Winter Swimmers was formed by a group of mostly Greenmount surf club members and ex-members in 1985. In 1997 it became the TH&C Dolphins Winter Swimming Club. Throughout the last 25 years membership has remained around the 50 to 60 mark, with about 30 swimmers taking part each Sunday morning when from May to September members turn up at the beach at 9.30am for their weekly swims.
During the 25 years the Dolphins have attended most of the Australian Winter Swimming Championships at various locations, including Maroubra, Wollongong, Manly, Southport, Newcastle and Banora Point where it was hosted by the Dolphins. These carnivals attract about 1000 competitors from all over Australia.
